Red Dead Redemption 2 official launch trailer revealed

PC gamers won’t have to wait much longer to play the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2. The games developer, Rockstar, has dropped a PC launch trailer and screenshots ahead of the 5th November launch.

It wasn’t too long ago that there was some confusion over whether Red Dead Redemption 2 would come to PC at all. Rockstar Games quashed those rumours last month by officially announcing the game will be coming to PC on 5th November and will be initially available on Rockstar’s own game launcher before making an appearance on Steam later.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to support 8k resolution on PC so it will no doubt provide some stunning visuals. However, anyone running the game in 8K resolution will have to be packing some seriously high-end hardware to achieve decent frame rates.

Rockstar Games has just published the official launch trailer for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 which showcases the graphical detail and visual enhancements that PC hardware can be capable of. Tom Senior of PC Gamer recently had some hands-on experience with the game and came away very impressed.

Rockstar has also outlined a bunch of improvements to the graphical fidelity of the game on PC – here is what they specified:

  • New graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion include increased draw distances for better navigation
  • Higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting
  • Higher quality snow trails
  • Improved reflections and deeper Higher resolution shadows at all distances
  • Tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal

The PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 will also feature a new Photo mode for players to capture their favourite images from the game and save them to their PC. Earlier this week, there were rumours that the game would feature ray tracing after some official screenshots displayed the Nvidia RTX logo. Sadly, this was not the case and the confusion was later cleared up by Nvidia on Twitter.

KitGuru says: Personally, I can't wait for the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC and will be looking forward to playing the game as soon as it's released. The launch trailer certainly shows off how stunning the game will look. I just hope my PC can handle all the eye candy at high resolution. Are any of you guys planning PC upgrades for the release of Red Dead Redemption 2?
