We might finally see Perfect Dark next month

With the current kerfuffle surrounding Microsoft’s surprising moves within Xbox – aka shutting down Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin – fans have begun to fear for Xbox’s many other studios and projects, including the self-described AAAA Perfect Dark reboot. Throughout its development we have heard conflicting reports on the game’s current status, both good and bad. Finally, we might be getting our first proper look at the game next month.

It’s safe to say at this point that the creation of the Perfect Dark reboot has been far from smooth. From reports that development is going well to claims that the game is still years away and facing a litany of issues, all fans have had to cling onto during this period is the single cinematic teaser released all the way back in 2020.

Fortunately, it seems as though things might finally be on track, with known industry insider NateDrake taking to the DirectXbox podcast to say:

“At this point, I fully expect that we will see Perfect Dark next month, and that some of the more recent rumours may have been outdated information perhaps… I have been hearing things this week that Perfect Dark is not in that bad of a state.”

What Drake is referring to here is of course the previously-announced Xbox showcase which is set to take place on the 9th of June. If Perfect Dark has indeed found its footing developmentally, then hopefully whatever we see of the game next month will inspire some confidence in fans. We will have to wait and see.
