PC hardware deals arrive early with Overclockers UK Halloween sale

We have officially made it all the way to Halloween and while PC hardware isn't the first thing to spring to mind for the spooky season, Overclockers UK is keen to change that and get involved. OCUK has put together a big sale this week, with plenty of deals on graphics cards, RAM, gaming laptops, CPUs, monitors and more.

There are roughly 100 price cuts in total spread out across different categories. We've had a look through to pick out some highlights but if there's something in particular that you've been keeping an eye on, then you should check out the full list of deals while they are still live.

CPUs, GPUs and RAM

Those of you looking to pick up a CPU upgrade may want to give a 2nd Gen Ryzen CPU some thought. If you don't mind jumping in on the slightly older generation, then an eight core Ryzen 7 2700X can be had for £179.99, while the Ryzen 7 2700 is about £20 cheaper if you don't mind the lower boost clock out of the box. If you want a six core Ryzen 5 instead, then the 2600X can be had for £150 and the standard Ryzen 5 2600 is £124.99.

If you really want to make the jump to 3rd Gen Ryzen, then there is a small discount currently on the Ryzen 7 3700X, which is down to £299.99 instead of £319.99.

Moving on to graphics cards, the best deal currently seems to be either the Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT Nitro+, or the PowerColor RX 5700 XT Red Devil, with both cards currently down to £419.99. If you would be tempted to go with an RTX 2070 Super for around £50 more, then the KFA2 RTX 2070 SUPER EX Gamer OC Triple Fan edition is currently £469.99, while the Gigabyte RTX 2070 SUPER WindForce is £479.99.

On the higher end of the spectrum, the MSI RTX 2080 Sea Hawk X with an all-in-one liquid cooler pre-installed is currently £629.99 instead of £799.99 and the dual-fan MSI RTX 2080Ti Ventus GP has dipped below £1,000, with the price currently being £979.99. Alternatively, there is a cheaper blower-fan version of the RTX 2080Ti from Zotac priced at £889.99.

Coming back down to earth and checking out some GPUs in the £300 range, there are some nice RTX 2060 options, with the MSI RTX 2060 Ventus XS OC costing £299.99 and the Palit RTX 2060 StormX currently sitting at £289.99, although these are the original RTX 2060 and not the newer RTX 2060 SUPER GPUs. Dropping out search down to under £200, you can get a Palit GTX 1660 SUPER StormX edition, which should be good for gaming at 1080p with room to crank up the detail settings. Alternatively, AMD has the RX 590 currently on sale, with the Sapphire Pulse version sitting at £179.99 and the Gigabyte dual-fan version at £175.99.

If you just want some new high-speed DDR4 RAM, then now is an excellent time to buy. The Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB 3600MHz kit is currently £98.99, while the slightly more premium Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 16GB 3600MHz kit is £124.99. Finally, if you just want some decent memory free of RGB LEDs, then the Vulcan T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz DDR4 kit is currently just £59.99.

Gaming laptops, monitors, PC cases and gaming chairs

If you are after a new chair to comfortably spend your gaming hours on and spruce up the overall look of your setup, then the noblechairs EPIC white/black edition is on sale for £264.99.

If you are looking to spruce up your rig with a whole new case, then the NZXT H400i Micro-ATX Tempered Glass case comes with a free NZXT Hue 2 RGB lighting kit and has had a price drop to £105.95. If you are looking to go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum with a massive, high-end case, then the Phanteks Enthoo Elite Super Tower is also on sale, with a super spooky price of £666.66 (down from over £800).

RTX-powered gaming laptops are amongst those with the biggest price drops, with the RTX 2070-equipped Gigabyte Aorus 15-X9 coming down from £2,099.99 to £1,599.95. If you want something closer to the £1,000 mark, then the ASUS TUF FX505DV comes with an RTX 2060, 16GB of RAM and a 120Hz 1080p display for £1,049.99.

For our last couple of recommendations, we are focusing on desktop gaming monitors. Those wanting a QHD high refresh rate monitor are in luck for deals this time, with the AOC AGON AG273QCX delivering 1440p, 144Hz and FreeSync 2 for £399.95. The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27BQ is also a good looking option, with 1440p resolution, a 155Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and FreeSync for £419.99. If you are still happy with 1080p gaming, then for £169.99 you can get the Asus VG248QZ, delivering a 24-inch Full HD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate.

We have only rounded up a few highlights for you to take a look at here but there are plenty of other deals to check out if you are looking for something more specific. You can head over to the OCUK Halloween 2019 sales page and see the full list, HERE

The launch of the new Intel Core Ultra 200S family of CPUs along with Z890 motherboards was a thorny process. KitGuru suffered along with pretty much every other review site on the planet and you may have noticed we held off from reviewing of the Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K as it is clear to us that Intel has some work to do before this platform is ready for action.
