Corsair iCUE LS100 Smart Lighting Strips Review

Corsair are known for their high-quality products, most of which come with a splash of RGB but it seems Corsair have fully embraced the RGB lifestyle with the new LS100 Smart Lighting Strips! These are external LED strips to completely customise your gaming setup with almost unlimited customisation via their iCUE software. With a starter kit and two expansion kits available these feature a rubberised design that is fully flexible, a physical controller, magnetic mounts and silicone diffusion that really sets these RGB strips apart.

Starter kit includes:

  • 2x 250mm strips
  • 2x 450mm strips
  • Controller
  • Extension cables
  • 150cm micro USB lead
  • 5V power adapter
  • 16x 3M (sticky backed) metal mounts
  • 8x cable management clips
  • The controller supports 138 LEDs per channel
  • Or 192 LEDs total across both channels

Pros:

  • Superb build quality
  • Easily mountable and flexible
  • Diffused light gives a very premium finish
  • iCUE software is packed full of features and customisation
  • Syncs with all compatible Corsair products to personalise your setup
  • “Ambient” light effects are excellent for movies/music/gaming

Cons:

  • Limited functionality (only 1 effect setting when used as external LED strips without a PC running)
  • Expensive compared to alternatives
  • No phone app support
  • Brightness can only be adjusted in iCUE settings tab
  • Controller’s on/off button doesn’t work whilst PC is on

KitGuru says: if you’re looking for superb quality, immense customisation, vibrant yet diffused RGB LED strips to spice up your gaming setup then the Corsair LS100 kits are definitely worth buying. The visual effect from the diffusion really creates an immersive backdrop that can be tailored to change depending on your music, movie or game choices with the easy to use iCUE software. If you’re looking for LED strips to use without a PC being involved then maybe look elsewhere. Overall the LS100 kit is another great release from Corsair.
