Latest AMD driver preps for RDR 2 and fixes issues with The Outer Worlds

Nvidia began rolling out its GeForce driver update for Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch this week and AMD has its own prepared too. The latest version of the Radeon Software driver adds day-one optimisations for Rockstar’s cowboy adventure, while also fixing some issues with The Outer Worlds, OBS encoding, Vulkan titles and more.

AMD didn’t offer up any performance details for Red Dead Redemption 2 running on Radeon hardware, but the new Radeon Software 19.11.1 release should get you the best day-one performance possible. Most of the meat in this update is found in the fixed issues list, which addresses a number of problems.

With this new driver, The Outer Worlds should now correctly render characters in the inventory screen and crashes should no longer be an issue when switching between different character inventories. For games that utilise the Vulkan API, an issue causing a 60 frames per second cap should now be resolved.

For content creators, this new driver update should fix an issue stopping users from connecting their Twitch account through the Radeon Settings menu for live-streaming. Finally, this driver should also fix up heavy frame drops while using OBS streaming with AMF encoding.

There are still some known issues present in the latest driver, some of which were present in the previous driver update for The Outer Worlds. This includes the Performance Metrics Overlay causing stutter or screen flashing on some applications, system instability with HDR and Radeon ReLive both active at once and stutter with FreeSync on 240Hz displays paired with an RX 5700 GPU. Hopefully those remaining issues will be ironed out by the time the next update rolls around.
