Pearl Abyss announces 3 new online games

The developer behind Black Desert Online, Pearl Abyss, will announce three new games and the upcoming closed beta of Shadow Arena at G-Star 2019 on November 14th (04:00 UTC) in Busan, South Korea.

G-Star 2019, the Korean videogame conference, is right around the corner, and with it comes the expected MMO announcements from the Korean videogame industry. This year, Pearl Abyss will host the Pearl Abyss Connect 2019 at the show, and it will be announcing three new games as well as talking a bit more about Shadow Arena.

Crimson Desert will be an open-world fantasy MMORPG focused around three tribes fighting to control the Pywell continent. Development for this game started back in 2018 by Jason Jung, the former Game Design Director of RYL Online. Alongside Jason, there's the former Lead Combat Designer of RYL Online, Eter Lee, who's “in charge of the action combat system for the title”, and the founder of Pearl Abyss, Dae-il Kim.

Next, we have DokeV, a “collectible MMORPG for all ages”, that by the looks of it, it's inspired by Pokémon. The team developing DokeV is led by Sang-young Kim, former Animation Director of Black Desert Online, and Suh Won Choi, former Game Design Director of Black Desert Online.

The third game to be announced is Plan 8, an “exosuit” MMO shooter, which has Minh Le, the co-creator of the Counter-Strike franchise, working on it. The team leader is Seung-ki Lee, former environment art director of Black Desert Online and Black Desert Mobile.

At G-Star 2019, Shadow Arena, a battle-royale game based on the limited-time game mode within Black Desert Online, will be playable for the attendees. The closed-beta for Shadow Arena will be from the 21st to the 24th of November.

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
