Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting the ‘biggest free content drop’ in franchise history

Infinity Ward has done well with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare so far and with paid map packs and loot boxes now out of the picture, the game is transitioning to a ‘seasonal' model for content. There will be a battle pass, but if you don't want to pay, the Season One update will still be the ‘biggest free content drop' in Call of Duty history.

The Season One content roadmap has now been revealed, including new maps, multiplayer modes and Special Ops missions. The rollout will start next week, with all new content arriving simultaneously across platforms, part of Infinity Ward's effort to support full cross-play this year.

For new maps, we will be getting Crash, Vacant and Shipment all returning from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Port (Ground War), Cargo (Gunfight) and Atrium (Gunfight) are the other three maps on the way, although more will be added as Season One continues.

Reinforce is a new multiplayer mode being added, which is a hybrid of Domination and Search & Destroy with single lives and both teams competing for control of three flags. Gunfight is also getting a new mode called ‘On Site Procurement', which is a tactical 2v2 mode where players start off with just their fists and need to gather equipment over the course of the match. Infected is another multiplayer mode joining the list, which is pretty self-explanatory. Just as with maps, there will also be more modes over the course of the season.

Finally, Bomb Squad, Grounded, Pitch Black and Just Reward are all missions coming to Spec Ops, with more coming over the next few months. Modern Warfare's first season of content kicks off on the 3rd of December and will hopefully be followed up by equally impressive content drops in future seasons.

KitGuru Says: Modern Warfare has impressed me quite a bit this year, although I do thing there are some changes that need to come to Spec Ops. Have many of you been playing this one? Will you be diving in to the new content as it rolls out?
