Gigabyte unveils new IoT Mini-ITX motherboards

Internet of Things are everyday “dumb items” that are connected to the web to become smart and talk to each other. Anything from simple sensors to smartphones an wearables are connected to automated systems to gather information to create an action, help with a particular task or to learn from a process.

Manufacturers of IoT devices are always looking to improve performance and reliability. Gigabyte has launched some new IoT Mini-ITX motherboards, the Gigabyte GA-IMB1900N and GA-IMB1900TN boards are based on Intel quad-core Celeron J1900 processors and feature a fanless design.

The Intel Celeron J1900 based IoT motherboards from Gigabyte offer advanced graphics performance and efficient power management. The J1900 processor is part of the Intel IOTG Group, meaning it guarantees longevity of 15 years product supply, which is ideal for IoT devices with long product cycles.

Gigabyte’s new IoT motherboards feature up to 16 GB high bandwidth DDR3L-1333 MHz memory modules and multiple I/O options. They are equipped with both HDMI and VGA output connectivity and an internal dual-channel 24-bits LVDS connector, to provide a maximum resolution of 1920×1200. In addition, the motherboards include a single mini-PCIe slot, two M.2 ports for SSD’s or Wi-Fi cards to enable flexibility of expansion.

The GA-IMB1900N and GA-IMB1900TN are built with Gigabyte’s Ultra Durable design to provide stable operation and a long lifespan, with a wide operating temperature range of 0°C  to 60°C. A built-in watchdog timer automatically detects and recovers the system from errors and malfunctions with a Trusted Platform module included for better data protection.

Gigabyte claims the new Mini-ITX motherboards are ideal solutions for applications such as digital signage, kiosk, POS and compact systems and are optimally configured to provide maximum performance in these situations.
