Since November 2018, rumours surrounding Half-Life VR have been coming out faster than ever, with many leaks coming from code within Valve's own game updates. Now, Valve is officially starting to talk about it, with the company announcing Half-Life: Alyx late last night.
In a short announcement, Valve tweeted out that it is “excited to unveil Half-Life: Alyx, our flagship VR game”. Unfortunately, this is an announcement for an announcement, with more details set to be revealed on Thursday at 10am Pacific Time, which will be 6PM in the evening for those of us in the UK.

The pre-announcement seems to be in response to some leaks, as excerpts of an interview with Geoff Keighley began doing the rounds on the internet just yesterday. Valve will make its proper announcement later this week and will presumably appear again at The Game Awards, with a release date planned for early 2020.
Previous leaks from Valve News Network dating back more than a year ago have revealed that Half-Life: Alyx will be a prequel to Half-Life 2. We'll have to wait for the big announcement on Thursday to get a better idea for what Valve has in store for us.

KitGuru Says: Valve is officially returning to the Half-Life series. It might not be Half-Life 3 and I'm sure the VR-only aspect will throw some people off. However, I am very excited. If all goes according to plan, perhaps Half-Life will finally get the resurgeance we've all been hoping for over the last decade.
