Sea of Thieves is officially coming to PS5 this month after several years of Xbox console exclusivity. While the game isn't set to roll out to all until the 30th of April, those who pick up the game's Ultimate Edition can start playing this weekend.
Those who pre-order the Sea of Thieves Ultimate Edition get access to the game five days early, a benefit that kicks off today. This means you can jump in from today, get to grips with the game and be well prepared for the game's 12th season, which kicks off next week.
If you pre-ordered the base or deluxe editions of the game, you won't get early access. However, you can pre-load the game, ensuring it is ready to go as soon as the unlock time hits on the 30th of April.
Sea of Thieves on PS5 will require a Microsoft Account to be linked to your PSN account. This is necessary for features like crossplay, which is enabled by default, although PS5 users can disable crossplay if they only want to matchmake with other PlayStation players. With your accounts linked, you'll see all of your PSN friends, and those you've met in-game, on a handy in-game friends list.
Like the Xbox Series X version of the game, Sea of Thieves on PS5 will run at 4K/60FPS, with the option for 1080p/120FPS. The game also supports DualSense controller features like Adaptive Feedback and enhanced rumble.
