Fallout London is an interesting total conversion mod created by Team FOLON which has been in the works for years now. Initially planned to release on the 23rd of April, the game-sized mod was delayed due to the surprise announcement of Fallout 4’s ‘next-gen’ update. Depending on how many complications the update introduces, the team “may be forced to release what we have as is against our plans.”
As reported by the publication PCGamesN, the Fallout London Team updated fans on Discord regarding their current and more concrete plans for the upcoming mod in the wake of the recent next-gen announcement.
The team first announced the delay quickly following Bethesda’s own announcement, and as such details were light at the time. Going more in-depth into their new plans however, Team FOLON’s project manager Dean Carter stated:
“Many of you are curious about why we haven’t simply released what we currently have on the old version. It’s important to understand that this mod is for everyone, not just a select few. The majority of gamers will benefit from the [Fallout 4 next-gen] update, and cutting off a significant portion of our player base isn’t a viable option.”
They continued, “Moreover, maintaining two separate builds moving forward would be impractical, especially for what we have planned. While I understand this situation can be frustrating, it’s the reality we’re facing. We’re hopeful that the update will be relatively minor and that we can deliver those fixes to you as soon as possible.”
The team concluded by saying “However if it poses a significant risk to our creation, we may be forced to release what we have as is against our plans.”
Personally, Fallout London is much more exciting of a prospect than the next-gen update, and so this current situation is a shame to see. That said, hopefully the team at FOLON continue to do whatever they think is right for the project and themselves.
KitGuru says: What do you think of the whole situation? Did Bethesda announce the update on purpose to mess with them (not really). Let us know down below.
