The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is now coming out in 2020

During The Game Awards 2018, it was announced that The Stanley Parable would be getting a big update in 2019, known as “The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe”. The new upgrade promises a bunch of new content, new endings and plenty more chatter from the Narrator. With just a few weeks left in the year, a 2019 release was looking unlikely and now, the delay has been made official in a way that only this developer could pull off.

To announce the delay, Crows Crows Crows released a video called “The Stanley Parable Responds to Your Letters”, in which the game's narrator reads out fake fan letters begging for the game to be delayed:

At first, the narrator brushes off the concerns around the amount of time left in the year. However, after reading out the last letter, the white flag is waved and the narrator proclaims “I will give our fans what they've been asking for”.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe will now come out in 2020 “probably some time before the summer”. It will be coming out on consoles and the update will also be coming to PC, although the developers aren't sure how they are going to make both the original and new versions separately accessible yet. While the original was built on the Source Engine, the new version has been rebuilt in Unity.

KitGuru Says: I'm a big fan of the original game, although I must admit that I forgot that this remake was slated for a 2019 release. It is surprising that this news didn't come sooner but I think the way they announced it more than makes up for that. Hopefully we'll have a clearer release date a few months into next year.
