Toshiba launch the DT02-V HDD series for video surveillance

With modern surveillance systems required to operate in harsh environments, digital video and network video recording platforms require reliable and robust storage. Toshiba has this covered with the new DT02-V series of surveillance hard drives.

Toshiba has announced a new series of HDDs designed for digital video recorder (DVR) and network video recorder (NVR) platforms. The DT02-V range from Toshiba includes devices with up to 6TB capacity and utilising the latest magnetic recording technology that achieves high areal density, for improved reliability compared to previous MD04ABA-V devices.

The DT02-V series supports a maximum of 32 high-resolution camera streams, making it ideal for use in modern surveillance DVR and NVR systems with up to eight drive bays. The new surveillance HDD series from Toshiba is designed for 24/7 operation and is robust enough to withstand operating temperatures as high as 40°C for 600,000 load/unload cycles at a rated workload of 180TB per year.

“Our latest surveillance HDD family, the DT02-V Series, delivers up to 6TB of storage capacity, and is designed for use with leading surveillance DVR and NVR platforms,” says Shuji Takaoka, General Manager of Storage Products Sales & Marketing Division at Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation. “It also provides a variety of capacity options while improving reliability for high-resolution surveillance video streams.”

Additionally, the DT02-V features a SATA 6Gbit/s interface and 128MB cache which helps minimise frame drops. The robust platform design has the potential to achieve a 1 million-hour MTTF. DT02-V series 4TB HDDs are available from Toshiba now with 6TB versions coming in January 2020 and 2TB versions expected in March.
