Hardcore gamers' dreams of a white Christmas may have just come true since Asus has officially launched its ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti White Edition graphics card, with an all-white appearance and the oomph of the Nvidia 2080 Ti GPU core.
The new ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti is lavished with an all-white fan shroud, backplate, frame and fans. RGB lighting integrated into the fan shroud provides a completely customised lighting setup that can be controlled by Aura Sync software to sync with music and changes in GPU temperature. A large number of pre-configured patterns and static colours are also available to select. Alternatively, Asus has included a stealth mode button for users to turn off the RGB lighting completely.
Not only does the Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti White Edition sport a new appearance, it also boasts a healthy performance boost via a selective GPU binning process. Aggressive factory overlocks to the core and memory means users will be able to extract the highest level of performance from this high-end graphics card.
With its Dual Bios, users can switch between performance and quiet modes. Performance mode will spin the fans up to maintain a safe working temperature, while quiet mode ensures the same power targets are met, but with a less aggressive fan curve for quieter operation. In performance mode, GPU core frequency will boost up to 1770 MHz with a power target of 300W to provide more overclocking headroom.
This increase in performance comes with higher temperature. Asus has this under control with a fin array heatsink featuring six heat pipes and an Asus MaxContact Technology precision machined heat spreader surface that provides up to 2x more contact with the GPU core for improved thermal transfer. In addition to the beefy heatsink, the ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti White Edition includes three Axial-tech design fans featuring a smaller hub to facilitate longer blades and a barrier ring to increase downwards air pressure.
Overall, the Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti White Edition measures 2.7 PCIe slots wide and is engineered with Auto-Extreme – an automated manufacturing technology that allows all soldering to be completed in a single pass, reducing thermal strain on components. Super Alloy Power II premium power components, DrMOS power stages and alloy-core chokes ensure the ROG Strix RTX 2080 TI White Edition can push performance to the limit.
An earlier article from TechPowerUp suggested the Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 TI White Edition is selling in the EU for €1600. However, we are unsure of a UK release date or pricing at this time.
