During the last console generation, Bioshock rose up to become one of the highest rated franchises in gaming. The series has been quiet since then but it won't be staying that way for long, as a new game is officially in development.
2K Games, the publisher behind Bioshock, announced this week that a new game is officially in the works at a brand new studio called ‘Cloud Chamber'. The studio has offices in San Francisco and Montreal, with their first task being a brand new Bioshock game, which will be in development “for the next several years”.
It is still early days for the new game, but David Ismailer, president of 2K, is eager to bring the series back: “BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised, and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation”, he said. “We can’t wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge.”
Cloud Chamber is headed by Kelley Gilmore, who has previously worked on the Civilization and XCOM franchises, although “many responsible for Bioshock's principle creation, advancement and longstanding notoriety” are also working at the studio. Given that the development timeline is still listed as being ‘several years', the next game will most likely be coming to PC and the next-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

KitGuru Says: I'm surprised we didn't get a new BioShock game confirmed earlier, although setting up a brand new studio and recruiting the right people for the job is no easy task. What would you like to see in a new Bioshock game?
