Square Enix has already released some of the best Nintendo Switch titles to date, including the likes of Octopath Traveller and Dragon Quest XI Definitive Edition. In 2020, the publisher is coming back for round 3, with a brand new sequel to Bravely Default.
Last night during The Game Awards, Bravely Default 2 was officially announced, a highly anticipated followup to the 3DS series. You can see the trailer below:
Bravely Default began life as a Final Fantasy project before transitioning over to a brand new IP. It was one of the best 3DS games ever made and confusingly, it already has one sequel called Bravely Second: End Layer. Bravely Default 2 is a completely separate game from the 3DS titles.
There will be a new standalone story, new characters and new party members to pick up along the way. The game is going to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive and while we don't have a final release date yet, it should be out next year.

KitGuru Says: Bravely Default was one of my favourite 3DS games and has been on my wishlist for Nintendo Switch since the console first came out. Hopefully this new sequel will recapture the magic of the original. Did many of you play Bravely Default on Nintendo 3DS? Will you be picking up Bravely Default 2 when it arrives?
