Escape From Tarkov players are claiming new “The Unheard Edition” is pay-to-win

Battlestate Games recently released the Unheard Edition of Escape From Tarkov, which is part of the newest patch. The edition brings a new PvE mode and other benefits. However, the hefty $250 price tag has left many fans dissatisfied.

One of the biggest criticisms is that the PvE mode in Tarkov is only available to those who purchase the $250 version. This has left many fans who bought the previous Edge of Darkness version feeling short-changed, as they were promised all future DLC material as part of the purchase. Many fans who own the EoD edition are understandably irritated that they must now shell out another $150 to play the new mode. This has led to criticism from fans, with many calling it a cash grab.

Another point of contention here is the number of shortcut items players receive as part of the new $250 edition, with some of the perks being seen as pay-to-win. These perks include additional loot storage space, stronger abilities at the start of a new season and even a perk that will stop the game's NPC enemies (Scavs) from firing at you from a certain range.

The response to the new edition has been so negative that all but three channels on the official Escape From Tarkov Discord server have been hushed, and users cannot post in them. Moderators on the game's sub-Reddit are also waiving the rule that prohibits numerous postings on the same issue. The official Escape From Tarkov X account has issued a statement that seems to indicate that Battlestate Games has no intentions to make the additional mode accessible to anyone who does not purchase the updated version, further exacerbating the situation.
