Last week, we reported on the current troublesome state of Cities: Skylines II. Though the devs warned players ahead of launch, the 2023 title has been and continues to be plagued with all manner of performance issues – leading to a recent apology from the devs and publishers. Promising to do better, the first of these all-important patches has now gone live, bringing much needed DLSS support.
Making the announcement on their forums, the team at Colossal Order said “Hi everyone. As patch 1.1.2f1 is rolling out on Steam and Microsoft Store, let’s have a look at what it includes and what you can expect next.”
As mentioned in the previous apology, the Beach Property DLC was being refunded to purchases and would be made free for all. This latest patch has now implemented these changes.
Of course, there are dozens of small tweaks, alterations, optimisations and bug fixes, but the other major change with this update comes in its support for DLSS. Though the addition of this upscaler will likely aid in squeezing out some extra frames, it appears as though DLSS support is currently limited to its version 2 variant – with no DLSS 3 frame generation available.
Additionally, while a large number of GPUs can make use of Nvidia’s bespoke technology, AMD and Intel users are currently left out, with no support for FSR nor XESS.
Fortunately, with the team focusing on improving their workflow, the next update is expected to arrive within a month, and should include “a large re-work of the Economy to address much of the feedback you have shared with us in the past months.”
The full patch notes can be found HERE, but hopefully this represents the start of some redemption for Cities: Skylines II.
