Xbox Series X set to launch in November

This week has been chock-full of next-generation console news. Not only have we seen detailed hardware spec reveals for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, but today Microsoft has also seemingly announced the launch date for its new console.

So far, Microsoft has maintained that Project Scarlett, now known as Xbox Series X, will be launching in ‘Holiday 2020'. In an update to the Xbox website today, that launch window was updated to say ‘Thanksgiving 2020'.

Assuming Microsoft doesn't retract this announcement, which seemingly went online before it should have, the Xbox Series X should be available to buy starting on November 26th, although pre-orders will likely go live at an earlier date.

The timing here is particularly interesting as this news comes just a couple of hours after Sony's PS5 spec presentation. While the PS5 will have a much faster SSD, the CPU and GPU do seem to be weaker than the offerings found in the Xbox Series X, which may give Microsoft some extra momentum as the marketing wheels continue to turn.

KitGuru Says: Assuming there are no delays, I would also expect to see a November launch for the PS5, as Sony and Microsoft will want a bit of a running start leading up to Christmas. Are any of you planning on getting one of the new consoles when they arrive later in the year?
