Put your CPU and GPU in use against the COVID-19 virus

There's been a lot of coverage around the Corona/COVID-19 virus in the last few weeks, with significant ramifications for everybody, not just in the hardware industry. Now Folding@Home is giving people a chance to donate their computing power to fight the Corona/COVID-19 virus.

Whatever hardware you are using, high-end or low-end, AMD, Intel or Nvidia – you can answer the call from Folding@Home. By using your computer's processing power, each machine can help Folding@Home to simulate ‘the dynamics of COVID-19 proteins to hunt for new therapeutic opportunities”. Folding@Home currently has 23 projects related to COVID-19 research – they are 11741, 11742, 11743, 11744, 11745, 11746, 11747, 11748, 11749, 11750, 11751, 11752, 11759, 11760, 11761, 11762, 11763, 11764, 14328, 14329, 14530, 14531, and 14532. The projects aim to better understand the virus and find possible treatments.

The real power of Folding@Home comes from connecting and combining the processing power of many computers to solve a complex problem. When using Folding@Home, the users don't need to do anything for the most part. The heavy lifting is left to the software working in the background, using spare processing power. The user can follow the progression of the research in real time – or choose to turn off the application if you wants to use the computer for something else.
