Seagate has just expanded its IronWolf storage line with the first PCIe SSD designed for business NAS users. The IronWolf 510 was built to deliver 24/7 caching and storage, with a transfer speed of up to 3GBps.
The Seagate IronWolf 510 is a PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD capable of withstanding one drive write per day (DWPD). It's available with multiple capacities – 240 GB, 480 GB, 960 GB, and 1.92 TB – making it the ideal storage solution for “for small and medium-sized businesses and creative professionals that use NAS”.
According to Seagate, the SSD's MTBF (mean time between failures) is 1.8 million hours and comes with two years of Rescue Data Recovery Services, and a five-year limited warranty. You can also use IronWolf Health Management to monitor the drive's health and usage.
Matt Rutledge, the senior vice president at Seagate, claims that this is the first M.2 NVMe SSD designed for NAS that “goes beyond SATA performance metrics” and “provides 3x the endurance when compared to the competition”.
Using 3D TLC memory, the IronWolf 510 uses a PCIe G3 ×4, NVMe 1.3 interface, and comes with an M.2 2280-D2 format. Depending on the capacity, the rated sustained sequential read speed goes as high as 3150MBps, while the rated sustained sequential write speed reaches up to 1000MBps.
The Seagate IronWolf 510 is available now and priced at $119.99 if you choose the 240GB variant, $169.99 for the 480GB variant, $319.99 for the 960GB variant, and $539.99 for the 1.92TB variant. If you want to learn more about Seagate's IronWolf storage, click HERE.
