ASRock release new firmware for RX 5600 XT graphics cards

When board partners launched the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT back in January this year, there was huge confusion when AMD just days before the release decided to roll out a VBIOS update to boost performance and upgrade the VRAM of RX 5600 XT cards from 12 Gbps to 14 Gbps.

When this VBIOS update happened, some graphics card manufacturers chose not to offer the update for RX 5600 XT cards that were available on the initial launch date. MSI was unable to guarantee that the VRAM of its first batch of RX 5600 XT would be able to support the 14 Gbps speed that the update brought, and later released a revised card with 14 Gbps VRAM out of the box.

While other companies were advising that the new VBIOS update should be used with caution, many RX 5600 XT manufacturers agreed that the VBIOS update would be fine for their cards and advised users to update at launch to extract maximum performance.

ASRock was one of the manufacturers who remained relatively calm about the VBIOS update farce and pushed out the new firmware to its RX 5600 XT customers at launch. ASRock has announced today, that a new VBIOS firmware is being made available to enable 14 Gbps memory on its RX 5600 XT Phantom Gaming D3 6G OC, RX 5600 XT Phantom Gaming D2 6G OC and RX 5600 XT Challenger D 6G OC graphics cards.

The latest VBIOS update from the ASRock R&D team will not only boost the graphics performance with this improved 14 Gbps VRAM speed, but it also brings other graphics improvements to the specified RX 5600XT cards to enhance the entire gaming experience of these products.
