Deepcool adds a 280mm AIO to the Castle EX series

The Deepcool Castle EX all-in-one CPU cooler series launched around August last year and initially included 240mm and 360mm versions. Deepcool has recently updated the Castle EX range which now includes a 280mm version.

When we tested the Deepcool Castle 240EX all-in-one CPU cooler last year, we found it to be a very capable CPU cooler. At the time, only 240mm and 360mm versions of the Castle EX were available. However, Deepcool has now updated the series with a 280mm version of the Castle EX so users who can’t fit a 360mm radiator in their system can benefit from the extra cooling surface area of the 280mm radiator.

Other than the increase in radiator dimensions of the Deepcool Castle 280EX, the only changes from the 240mm and 360mm versions are the larger 140mm fans. Just like previous Castle EX coolers, the 280EX features Deepcool’s patented anti-leak technology and the pump is driven by a powerful 3-phase, x-life motor with a pressure charging impeller for an increased flow rate and quiet operation.

A dual-chamber pump housing helps to optimise flow route with less resistance and combined with a copper micro-channel cold plate equipped with 25% more skived fins, heat dissipation efficiency is increased compared to previous Deepcool AIO coolers. TF140 S fans included with the Deepcool Castle 280EX are specially tuned for use with radiators and are designed with two-layer fan blades to amplify airflow and reduce noise.

The pump housing of the Deepcool Castle 240EX provides some addressable ARGB lighting that can be connected directly to motherboards via a 3-pin 5V RGB header and controlled either by motherboard RGB software or an included Deepcool RGB controller. The top of the pump housing is removable, and a removable or customisable logo can be viewed through a window.

KitGuru says: We expect good results in terms of thermal dissipation from the Deepcool Castle 280EX all-in-one cooler since the 240mm version did very well in our own testing. The Castle 280EX will be one to look out for when it becomes available.
