Persona series hits new sales milestone

Initially created as a spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series, Persona has become a successful franchise in and of itself, having more cache and accolades than the series it spun off from. As part of SEGA’s latest fiscal report, the publisher has revealed that Persona as a franchise has now reached a major new milestone.

As reported by PersonaCentral, SEGA Sammy released their latest fiscal report for the year ending March 2024. During the last quarter, a total of 2.39 million Persona games had been sold (largely aided by the recent release of Persona 3 Reload) – pushing total franchise figures to 22 million copies overall.

Over the past 3 years, the Persona series has sold an increasing number of copies, with 2021-22 managing 1.3 million, 2022-23 more than doubling this to 3.27 million, and the most recent fiscal year boosting this up to 5.06 million (again, likely aided heavily by P3R).

Assuming the current trend continues, we could very well see the Persona series become one of SEGA’s biggest, possibly reaching a point at which more than 10 million copies could be sold in a single year. We will have to wait and see, but it’s safe to say that the Persona series isn’t going away any time soon.
