You can play the previous Destiny expansions for free right now

If you are looking to catch up on Destiny over the next month or so leading up to The Final Shape, then you are in luck. Bungie has made three of the previous three expansions free to play right up to June 3rd, the day before the next expansion drops.

From the 8th of May until the 3rd of June, anyone can download Destiny 2 for free and play through the Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and Witch Queen expansions. If you are on PlayStation, you can also claim Lightfall for free as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription.

Shadowkeep kicked off what we now know as modern Destiny, where Bungie got its roadmap sorted out, enabling the developers to push out a more cohesive story. This current phase of the game will end with The Final Shape, the last expansion in the ‘Light v Dark' saga, the main story arc that has been in place since Destiny first launched in 2014. Players will be saying goodbye to The Traveler, and likely to Destiny as we know it today.

Moving forward, it appears that Destiny 2 will switch to ‘episodic' content after The Final Shape, with the next major release expected to be Destiny 3.
