Naughty Dog ‘working closely’ with Sony to release The Last of Us Part II as soon as possible

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to delay The Last of Us Part II once again despite the game being close to completion, with just final bug testing left to do. Neil Druckmann offered some insight into the decision last week and now, he has shared a tiny tidbit of extra information.

Previously on the PlayStation Blogcast, Neil Druckmann was a guest and discussed how things are going at Naughty Dog during this current lockdown with everyone working from home. Importantly, employees were told to take time off if they needed it and to ensure the health of themselves and family, even if that meant that a delay in the game’s release may occur. At any rate, the game is almost completely finished, with just final bugs being worked through. The game could have released digitally on time with a physical release later, but that would be unfair on customers who rely on boxed copies of games.

Now in the latest update, Druckmann states that Naughty Dog is “still working hard with Sony” to get the game released as soon as possible.

According to a number of rogue Amazon listings earlier today, that release date could well be late June. Although no official announcements have been made so far.

KitGuru Says: It is a shame that The Last of Us Part II was pushed back but hopefully the new release date won't be too far behind. Perhaps we'll get more news before the end of the month.
