Creative introduces the new Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus soundcard

Creative is adding a new soundcard option to its portfolio, designed to sit between the company's Sound BlasterX AE-5 and AE-7 models. The new Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus is a PCIe card and DAC with RGB lighting that supports Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect.

Featuring a Sabre32 DAC, this soundcard allows the user to reproduce Hi-res audio from games, music and videos. With a clean 122 dB DNR audio stream, the Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus delivers up to 32-bit/384 kHz playback with low distortion and jitter. There's also a custom XAMP amplifier that ensures high-quality sound regardless of the output's volume. With 1Ω headphone output impedance, Creative claims it's possible to drive high-grade headsets of up to 600Ω, including headsets that use planar magnetic drivers.

The Aurora Reactive lighting system used with the Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus and in the included RGB strip can output up to 16.8 million colours in different patterns, customisable through the Sound Blaster Command Software. Additionally, the Sound Blaster Command Software comes with the Sound Blaster Acoustic Engine, a set of tools to adjust the audio output to your liking, delivering “new levels of audio immersion and precision”, and Scout Mode, giving you a “distinct tactical advantage” by highlighting in-game cues to easily locate the source of the sound.

As per Guru3D, the Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus features discrete 5.1-channel on speakers and 7.1-channel on speakers and headphones. The connectors available include 3x 3.5 mm 5.1 line-out, 1x Toslink optical-out, 1x 3.5 mm headphone out, 1x 3.5 mm mic / line-in, and 1x Intel HD audio front panel.

Pricing and availability for the Sound BlasterX AE5-Plus are not known yet, but it is expected to be around the £150 mark. If you want to learn more about the Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus, click HERE.
