Ever since it first released in 2011, Terraria has been a consistent seller. Over the course of nearly 10 years, the game has continued to see support from its developers Re-Logic. In turn, fans have continued to support the game, with the title recently being announced to have sold over 30 million copies – making it one of the best selling video games of all time.
Terraria is a 2D action-adventure sandbox game, in a similar vein to Minecraft. Similarly, the game has continued to receive consistent updates over the years, adding further to the game’s playability, and only improving it over time. With its 4th (and final) major update set to release some time this year, it is encouraging to see that new fans are still discovering the game.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the team stated that the game had achieved “30 million copies sold!” Furthermore, To celebrate “Terraria is 50% off on Steam this week!” Terraria began its life on PC (with the game later being ported to a number of consoles and smart devices) and so it makes sense that this offer is being extended to the platform that started it all.
The game currently holds an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ reception on Steam, and for £3.49, the purchasing risk is extremely low. With more and more games releasing each year, it's nice to see older titles still receiving continued support. After all, just because the game is old, doesn’t mean it isn’t good. Terraria is one such example of this, and the fact that the game has now reached 30 million copies sold is testament to the fact that others believe this to be the case too.
