Final Fantasy VII Remake sold 3.5 million copies at launch

Final Fantasy VII Remake was already billed as one of the most highly anticipated games of the year and it looks like launch sales have backed that up. In the three days that followed the game's release, Square Enix sold 3.5 million copies.

Those are the sales numbers for between April 7th and April 10th, it also includes both physical and digital sales worldwide. It is a huge launch, although not quite as huge as Final Fantasy XV, which sold five million copies during its launch window.

At this point in time, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a PS4 exclusive and with 3.5 million sales at launch, it is now among the fastest selling PS4 exclusives so far. For comparison purposes, God of War sold around 3.1 million copies at launch and Spider-Man sold 3.3 million.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is expected to continue to sell well over the course of this year and will have another resurgence in 2021, when the game can officially release on other platforms.
