OWC introduces Thunderbay 8 with speeds of up to 2586MB/s

OWC has unveiled its Thunderbay 8 storage solution that offers up to 128 TB storage and uses Thunderbolt 3 to reach speeds of up to 2586 MB/s. Those who are in dire need of even more storage can daisy-chain up to six units together for up to 768 TB of storage capacity.

Those in search for a fast and big storage solution just got one more option to pick from, with the Thunderbay 8 from OWC. Aside from its big storage capacity and its fast speed, the product also offers good compatibility as it is designed to use Thunderbolt 3 but is backwards-compatible with Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt. Thunderbay 8 comes with eight “hot-swappable universal drive bays”, meaning that HDDs and SSDs of both 3.5” and 2.5” sizes can be mixed and matched.

OWC describes the Thunderbay 8 as a “personal, desktop-sized data center for content creators and small business workgroups”. The storage solution is “Plug and play ready”, meaning that the cables required are shipped with the product with no need for extra drivers.

The release date and pricing of Thunderbay 8 is still unknown.
