Sony announces release dates for The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima

There have been a number of game delays this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with one of the most unfortunate being The Last of Us Part II, which by all accounts was on track to meet its late May release date. There has also been some concern that another major PS4 exclusive, Ghost of Tsushima, might not make it out before late 2020. Fortunately, Sony has got things in order, announcing release dates.

The Last of Us Part II was delayed ‘indefinitely' just a few weeks ago, moving away from its May 29th release date. Since then, Naughty Dog has said that the game is in the final stages of bug fixing and should be ready to go fairly soon. Now we have a proper new release date, with the game arriving on June 19th, possibly in response to the major plot leaks that began doing the rounds over the weekend.

Sucker Punch, a studio that has been quiet since the early days of the PS4, is also due to return to the spotlight this year. Ghost of Tsushima is a new IP that has been in development for years now. There has been speculation that it will end up being a cross-gen PS4/PS5 launch but that won't actually be the case.

As announced today, Ghost of Tsushima will be releasing on July 17th, just less than a month after The Last of Us Part II, meaning PS4 owners are going to have a particularly good couple of months.
