Nubia – the manufacturer behind RedMagic 5G – describes the display in its upcoming phone as a “144Hz ESports Ultra-Smooth Display” that is able to provide “seamlessly fluid movements in action packed games and stay ahead of the competition”. The smartphone also comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, all for a price of £460.
In March of this year it was reported that UK “binge-gaming” has reached a new peak. This comes after many mobile manufacturers have launched gaming smartphones and services like Stadia are able to reach out to more customers. Now the first gaming smartphone featuring a 144Hz has been released by Nubia.
As implied by the name – RedMagic 5G – the smartphone is capable of supporting 5G, SA as well as NSA. The phone screen is a 6.65″ AMOLED Display and in the battery department the phone comes with a 4,500mAh cell, that – if upgraded – can support 55W quick charging. The main camera is built using a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. When it comes to memory, the RedMagic 5G is delivered with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage space.
To enhance the gaming experience Nubia has included built-in shoulder trigger buttons to allow the user to “play like a pro” and the screen supports 240Hz touch sampling rate to make games extra responsive. In short, Nubia makes it clear that its new RedMagic 5G is aimed towards those who are serious about gaming on their phones.
The RedMagic 5G will go on sale globally starting April 21.
