Limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One controller leaks

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally intended to release on this day, the 16th of April 2020. Unfortunately back in January the game was officially confirmed to be delayed until September. Even though CD Projekt Red felt as though the game would not be ready in time for its April release, many of the ancillary products surrounding the game appear to have been prepared for Cyberpunk 2077’s initial release date – as a special edition Xbox One controller has been discovered on Amazon with a May launch.

The listing, which is currently unavailable for preorder, indicates that the controller is set to release on the 4th of May. No pricing details have been revealed, though expect it to fall in line with most limited release Xbox One controllers (around £60-65).

With Cyberpunk 2077 originally set to release in mid-April, a May release for the controller would have made perfect sense. As the game has now been delayed to the 17th of September, it would make little sense for the controller to release over 4 months prior to the game’s launch. Of course, the date could be pushed back, however as it currently stands, the controller is still listed for release on the 4th of May.

Physically, the controller itself borrows a number of design cues from the game’s aesthetics. With a rugged metallic design, the controller features grey and black as its primary colours, with red accents added throughout. The paint gives off a worn out appearance, and the words “no future” are scratched into the handle. The box meanwhile utilises the, now well known, yellow backdrop that has been featured on much of the game’s marketing.

Cyberpunk 2077 has had a great relationship with Microsoft, with the game making appearances at the console manufacturer’s E3 conferences both in 2018 and 2019. It is therefore unknown whether PlayStation’s DualShock 4 will receive a similar limited edition treatment.
