Crysis Remastered officially announced

Following on from yesterday's website leak, Crytek has officially announced Crysis Remastered, heading to PC and consoles this summer. The 2007 hardware crippling shooter is returning, bringing back the classic sandbox gameplay of the original with all of the latest graphical enhancements that CryEngine has to offer.

Crysis Remastered will focus on the original game’s single-player campaigns and is slated to contain high-quality textures and improved art assets, an HD texture pack, temporal anti-aliasing, SSDO, SVOGI, state-of-the-art depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, and parallax occlusion mapping, particle effects will also be added where applicable. Further additions such as volumetric fog and shafts of light, software-based ray tracing, and screen space reflections provide the game with a major visual upgrade.

According to Crytek CEO, Avni Yerli, the team is “excited to be working on the Crysis franchise again”, so perhaps there will be more to come if this ends up doing well.

Unfortunately, we don't have gameplay footage or screenshots to show just yet, outside of the main key art, which you can see above. With the game scheduled to release over the summer, we should see more of it soon.

KitGuru Says: The original Crysis still holds up nicely in terms of quality but it is going to be great to see the game return with all of the latest engine enhancements, especially ray-tracing. Are many of you looking forward to Crysis Remastered?
