Over the weekend, reports of a potential Nintendo security breach began doing the rounds, with many users saying that they had experienced odd account activity, including unauthorised log-ins. This is of course a significant problem and now, Nintendo is officially looking in to it.
Following on from yesterday's round of reports on the matter, a Nintendo representative gave the following statement to Eurogamer: “We are aware of reports of unauthorised access to some Nintendo Accounts and we are investigating the situation. In the meantime, we recommend that users enable two-step verification for their Nintendo Account”.
Nintendo began promoting the use of Two-Factor Authentication for Nintendo Accounts just a few weeks ago. If you didn't get it activated at the time, then you may want to do it now, or at the very least, unpair any payment methods from your Nintendo account to avoid unwarranted charges to your account.
