Samsung has developed a Galaxy Watch app that reminds its users at regular intervals that it's time to wash their hands. The company calls the new app “Hand Wash”.
The importance of good hand hygiene is difficult to overstate. The World Health Organization recommends everyone to regularly wash their hands, with the NHS saying that the washing should last at least 20 seconds to be effective – roughly the same time that it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.
In an effort to produce an app that reminds people to wash their hands, a group of developers from Samsung Research Institute-Bangalore “worked round-the-clock over the last two weeks”. The developers believe that their app offers a solution that will help keep people “healthy and safe.”

The ‘Hand Wash’ app reminds its users periodically to wash their hands and uses haptic feedback to notify when 20 seconds of washing has passed. The app also allows users to track their daily wash trends to build a healthy habit over a period. Samsung explains the creation of the app with saying that: “After all, when it comes to our health, prevention is always better than cure!”
Galaxy Watch users can download the ‘Hand Wash’ app from the Galaxy Store.
