HyperX launches two new headsets with 7.1 virtual surround sound

The HyperX Cloud Stinger line of gaming headsets is about to receive two new additions. The HyperX Cloud Stinger Core (7.1) and the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core (Wireless + 7.1) are the new headsets from HyperX, adding 7.1 virtual surround support to the Cloud Stinger family.

According to Nate Almond, Audio Business Manager at HyperX, with so many people “working and playing at home more than ever”, HyperX decided to expand its budget line of gaming headsets. Both headsets offer 7.1 virtual surround sound for a more immersive gaming experience and 40mm directional drivers, which HyperX claims will allow users to playback high-quality sound with precision.

The new HyperX Cloud Stinger headsets each weigh less than 245g, offering a lightweight design for a comfortable feel. The frame uses steel sliders to adjust the headset size, as well as on-ear volume control and a “swivel-to-mute noise-canceling microphone”.

Both headsets have a frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz, an impedance of 16 Ω, and a sound pressure level of 103dBSPL/mW at 1kHz. The microphone of these headsets has a frequency response of  50Hz-18kHz, and a sensitivity of -40dBV. NGENUITY software can be used to turn on the virtual 7.1 surround sound. The Cloud Stinger Core (Wireless + 7.1) headphones use a 2.4GHz wireless connection, for a range of up to 20m, and has a battery life of 17 hours. The Cloud Stinger Core (7.1)'s cable is 2.5 meters long, and there's a bundled USB adapter included.

The new HyperX Cloud Stinger Core headsets come with a 2-year warranty and are priced starting at $59.99 for the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core 7.1, and $79.99 for the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless. You can learn more about these headsets HERE.
