Summer Game Fest is a four-month event hosted by Geoff Keighley

Over the next four months, the Summer Game Fest will bring you news, interviews and announcements from multiple developers and publishers. Hosted and developed by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley, the Summer Game Fest aims to be an “industry-wide celebration of gaming”.

Following the cancellation of E3, and IGN's Summer of Gaming and Future Games Show announcements, Geoff Keighley, who had quit from organising E3 2020, decided to create an event that it will work as “a central repository of everything that's happening this summer in games”.

As per Keighley's tweet, both Steam Game Festival and a playable Game Festival organised by Microsoft will be a part of the Summer Game Fest. The first event of the Summer Game Fest will be this week's Inside Xbox, on May 7. This Thursday, Microsoft will give us a first-look at some ‘third party' Xbox Series X games currently in development.

The lineup for ‘Phase 1' of the Summer Games Fest includes partners such as 2K Games, Activision Publishing, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bethesda, Blizzard Entertainment, Bungie, CD Projekt Red, Digital Extremes, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Square Enix, Private Division, Riot Games, Steam and Warner Bros.

Geoff Keighley stated in an interview with Hollywood Reporter that during this quarantine, he has been busy contacting game developers and fans that “want to believe in something bigger”. He also stated that this is a “chance to start something new”, with the public able to enjoy this type of event from the comfort of our homes.

The Summer Game Fest starts this week, and will continue until August. You can learn more about it HERE.
