Switch sales have surpassed several other Nintendo consoles

The Nintendo Switch has found its way into many homes all over the world, and in March of this year it was reported that had the Switch had surpassed the Wii's lifetime sales in Japan. Despite suffering recent shortages, the console continues to sell well and has now surpassed N64, GameCube, SNES and Wii U lifetime global sales.

On May 7, Nintendo released its consolidated financial statements, with the company's financial year ending March 31 2020. One key take away from the report is just how well the Switch is continuing to sell. From 1st April 2019 until March 21st 2020, the console saw its sales increase by 24% compared to the previous year, likely due to the introduction of Nintendo Switch Lite and the increased demand stemming from many being stuck at home these past few months.

Nintendo's Software sales also saw an increase of 42.3% year-on-year, reaching 168.72 million sales for the fiscal year. All in all the Nintendo Switch has sold 55.77 million units worldwide, which means that it's still behind NES and Wii, but ahead of all the other consoles released by the Japanese gaming company.

KitGuru says: The Nintendo Switch is only three years and has so far been able to sell very well. Do you own a Switch?
