The Last of Us Part II Official Story Trailer released

The Last of Us Part II is without a doubt one of the most anticipated games of 2020. Set to launch on the 19th of June, PlayStation has released the game’s official story trailer, showcasing some of the horrors that the game’s protagonist Ellie is set to experience, and doubling down on the game’s themes of “Hate.”

The trailer begins with its official rating, indicating that the game is for mature audiences and will feature “Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Sexual Content, Strong Language, Use of Drugs.”

“After a vicious and violent event disrupts the relative peace that Ellie has found in Jackson, she sets out to bring justice to those responsible. As she hunts them down one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions,” states the game’s official synopsis.

The two-minute long trailer accurately encapsulates this dark and harrowing tone, setting the stage for what is to come when the game finally releases on the 19th of June. While many aspects of The Last of Us Part II’s plot leaked online, it takes little away from the trailer, which boasts stunning visuals and enchanting, yet sombre music.

For those who were unfortunately prematurely spoiled by the leaks – which revealed major plot details – this story trailer serves to demonstrate that there is more to a game than its plot points. The Last of Us Part II is looking like it’ll be one of Naughty Dog’s best titles, and this new trailer proves that whether you already know what’s to come or not, the game is most definitely worth experiencing yourself.
