Footage of cancelled Prince of Persia Redemption discovered

For many years now, fans of the Prince of Persia series have been clamouring for a new game. As it turns out, Ubisoft was working on one called ‘Prince of Persia Redemption' around the same time that Assassin's Creed 3 was in development, and footage of the game has been sat on YouTube for eight years.

We aren't sure how nobody noticed this one conspicuous video for so long, but today, Prince of Persia Redemption began doing the rounds online. The video could be DMCA'd at any time but for now, the one below should work.

How do we know that this footage is real? Well it was confirmed by Jonathan Cooper, an animation expert that has worked on titles like Assassin's Creed 3 and more recently, The Last of Us Part II. According to a tweet from Cooper, this video shows a pre-rendered game pitch, although Ubisoft ultimately passed on the game.

It was being worked on by Khai Nguyen, who later went to work on For Honor instead. Perhaps a few more developers will speak out on the story behind this particular cancelled game now that the secret is out.

KitGuru Says: This is a scripted sequence rather than full gameplay, so we don't know how far Prince of Persia Redemption got before being cancelled. Perhaps we'll see something new from the Prince of Persia series in the near future.
