The Elder Scrolls Blades leaves Early Access and launches on Nintendo Switch

Bethesda first found success in the smartphone gaming market with Fallout Shelter, which acted as a fun little spin-off to keep fans occupied during the wait for Fallout 4 in 2015. The Elder Scrolls Blades was more ambitious but fell flat when it came to monetisation methods. The game has had plenty of updates along the way though and this week, Blades exits ‘Early Access' and also launches on the Nintendo Switch.

The Elder Scrolls Blades has been available on Android and iOS for well over a year now and was originally scheduled to come to Switch late last year. For whatever reason, delays set in but as of May 14th, The Elder Scrolls Blades is officially available on Nintendo's console.

The Elder Scrolls Blades centres around a city building mechanic, where you go out and complete quests and run dungeons in order to obtain new gear and funds to restore your town to its former glory by upgrading buildings and adding new facilities. There is also a PvP arena, guilds and cross-platform play, so your progress carries between devices.

As usual for an Elder Scrolls game, you level up along the way and can invest more points in your health, stamina or magicka, giving you options to build a specific combat style. The game is already available via Google Play and the iOS App Store. It is also downloadable through the Nintendo eShop.

KitGuru Says: The Elder Scrolls Blades is a lot better than it once was, although it isn't exactly going to replace Skyrim or keep fans from clamouring for The Elder Scrolls VI. Have any of you tried this game out already? Are you going to download it on your Switch?
