Star Wars Outlaws is Ubisoft’s most marketed game ever

Star Wars is a big franchise and Ubisoft is a massive publisher. As such, the two pairing up for a big-budget open-world Star Wars game did not come as a surprise. What is surprising perhaps is just how much Ubisoft is banking on this game’s success, having put more money into the marketing of the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws than any other game in the publisher’s history.

During a recent earnings call (as transcribed by Insider-Gaming), Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that they will be pushing Star Wars Outlaws more than any other game in the company’s history, saying:

“What we are factoring in is a strong launch for Star Wars Outlaws. That’s the fact that it’s among the most awaited games of the industry this year and reflecting a really strong positive community sentiment, and also the fact that we are coming with the biggest marketing campaign ever so far for a Ubisoft game.”

Outlaws is of course set to launch in a little over a month on the 30th of August, and so we will likely begin to see a significant rise in marketing and ad placements for the game over the coming days/weeks.

Though Star Wars is of course a known quantity and Outlaws does look set to be quite good, we will have to wait and see whether all the time, effort and money put into the game will pay off.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this statement? Do they need to market the game that much? How much do you reckon they’re spending on marketing? Let us know down below.
