After being delayed last week, Evil Empire has now announced the new release date for The Rogue Prince of Persia. The new game, developed by a team of rogue-like specialists who also worked on the massive indie hit ‘Dead Cells', is now due to launch on the 27th of May.
The game was initially due to launch onto Steam Early Access on the 13th of May. However, the launch of Hades 2, Super Giant's hugely popular sequel, led to a small delay. As both games fit into a similar genre, moving the release a bit further away from the launch of Hades 2 made good sense, especially since the game garnered over 100K concurrent players during its launch week.
At the time, Evil Empire did state that the delay would not be a lengthy one. Now, we know that the game will launch on the 27th of May, marking a two-week delay. There is one caveat however, if Hollow Knight: Silksong suddenly drops out of nowhere, then the game may be delayed again. However, I think it is worth noting that this scenario is unlikely. Microsoft has marketing rights for Silksong, and the next Xbox showcase isn't taking place until the 9th of June.
The Rogue Prince of Persia will still be an Early Access title, with plans to remain in Early Access for around a year, while the development team takes on feedback and makes adjustments. Once the game hits V1.0, we expect to see it launch on consoles too.

KitGuru Says: I've been on a rogue-like kick recently, so I've been looking forward to this one quite a bit. Are any of you planning on picking this one up later this month? To me, it seems like it would make a fantastic Steam Deck game.
