In recent years, a number of trademark filings have revealed new id Software releases ahead of announcement. Previously, we've seen the classic DOOM re-releases and Quake re-releases leaked this way. Now, a new trademark filing hints at something new in the works for DOOM fans.
The pending trademark is titled “IDKFA”, which is a well known cheat code from the original game, which unlocks all weapons, keys and grants extra armour. Interestingly, this follows on from last year's FTC filing leak, in which Microsoft accidentally revealed its internal timeline for upcoming Bethesda projects. On this list, DOOM: Year Zero was seen and fans have been waiting for more information ever since.
More recently, Microsoft-focused reporter, Tom Warren, also claimed that a new DOOM announcement is on the horizon. With last year's leak, this recent news, and the fact that an Xbox Showcase is just around the corner, it would seem that Doom fans will have something to look forward to this summer.
The previous game in the series, DOOM Eternal, launched in March 2020, followed by two campaign DLCs. Presumably, id Software has been working on a new game ever since.

KitGuru Says: Microsoft is going to need some exciting game announcements at its showcase in June to move past all of the gloom of the past six months. Console fans have not been pleased with the company's decision to release certain exclusives on rival consoles. Having Call of Duty at the showcase is not going to be close to enough.
