Computex 2024: be quiet! debuts Dark Rock 5 and goes all-in on RGB with new cases

At Computex today we had the chance to swing by the be quiet! booth to check out the latest and greatest in cases, coolers and PSUs. Steve from Gamers Nexus also happened to be there, who quickly began chatting to Leo about feet…

The team at be quiet! has been hard at work on new products recently. At Computex this week we get to see the Light Base 900 and its smaller sibling, the Light Base 600, the Light Loop, new Light Wings LX fans, the Dark Rock 5 and the new Pure Power 12 cooler.

The Light Base is the first PC case from be quiet! with a ‘fishtank' design, one that has been growing increasingly popular amongst PC builders looking to show off their hardware and RGB lighting. It has a fully windowed front and side panel for a panoramic view, and impressive illumination from all angles thanks to a massive 1.5M ARGB LED strip housed inside. PC builders can switch between inverted or horizontal/flat layouts, the feet of the case can be removed without tools, and the FX version ships with four Light Wings fans inside.

The Light Loop is a new high-performance AIO liquid cooler from be quiet!, offering a uniquely illuminated CPU cooling block. The cooler is designed for users with heavily overclocked systems, but high performance aside, aesthetically, it also stands out from the crowd with its Light Wings LX fans and the ability for up to 64 LEDs in total. A 360mm and 240mm version of this cooler will be made available, in both black and white colour options, priced at $130, up to $165 depending on size and colour choice.

The Light Wings LX fans sport optimised fan blades and an illuminated impeller. LEDs are integrated into the fan hub, and a closed loop motor keeps the RPM stable despite any resistance on high-speed models. The 120mm high-speed variant goes up to 2100RPM, while the standard variant tops out at 1600. The 140mm model tops out at 1800RPM for the high-speed version and 1200RPM for the standard.

The Dark Rock 5 is launching in a few weeks time, priced at around $70. Like the Dark Rock Pro 5, it comes in an all-black heatsink design, but you only get a single heatsink tower with this model. If you want dual-heatsinks, you'll need to turn towards the Pro model. Despite having one less heatsink, its cooling abilities remain at a high level, with six heat pipes, a Silent Wings 4 fan to dissipate heat quietly, and a special heatsink coating that improves heat transfer.

Finally, we have the new Pure Power 12 power supply range, shipping in September. Offering 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W capacities, there is a suitable model for everyone, no matter what type of system you're building. The Pure Power 12 is compliant with the latest standards, including ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1. You also get 80 Plus Gold efficiency, a full suite of safety features and a 10-year manufacturer's warranty.
