ID-Cooling adds RGB lighting to the SE-224-XT cooler

ID-Cooling has announced a refresh of one of its affordable CPU tower coolers, the SE-224-XT has been upgraded with RGB illumination and features two 12V RGB lighting zones now with the SE-224-XT RGB while remaining at roughly the same price as the previous Basic model.

In terms of thermal performance of this new RGB version of the SE-224-XT, we don’t expect any improvements over the original Basic version released last December, since the new model is equipped with the same four direct touch copper heat pipes, aluminium fin stack design and a 120mm fan. The updated SE-224-XT RGB is all about the aesthetics.

SE-224-XT RGB features ID-Cooling’s metal-mecha mounting system and is designed to cool CPUs with up to 180W TDP rating, which puts it in the low-mid range thermal performance category. Compatibility with a wide range of mid-tower chassis should be possible since dimensions are on the compact size at 120 x 73 x 154mm.

Most noticeable updates of the ID-Cooling SE-224-XT RGB is obviously the RGB lighting zones. The top cover and the 120mm fan now include 12V 4-pin RGB illumination to allow users to take advantage of lighting effects visible from both directions. RGB lighting can be synchronised with other system components using compatible motherboard software such as Asus Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light and ASRock Polychrome.

Another aesthetic upgrade with the SE-224-XT RGB is the heatsink fin stack, the original Basic version used the bare aluminium approach while the new RGB version is sporting an all-black coating that gives it a more stealthy appearance to match the 120mm black fan frame.

The ID-Cooling SE-224-XT RGB is compatible with popular mainstream desktop platforms such as Intel LGA2066/2011/1200/1150/1151/1155/1156, as well as AMD AM4 and is expected to become available mid May 2020, priced at €27 or $30 USD.
