ASUS introduces AMD B550 motherboard range

There has been a lot of talk around Intel chipsets and CPUs this week, but there is some AMD news coming through the pipeline too. Today, ASUS has announced its range of B550 motherboards for AMD CPUs.

You can expect a good number of features, including PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, WiFi 6 support (ROG boards only), 2.5Gbps Ethernet and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C. ASUS has also improved its VRMs and pin connectors to improve overclocking on more mainstream gaming motherboards.

The new motherboards also support up to four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports running at 10Gbps direct from the CPU. Of course, ASUS also has its own feature set baked in, including AiMic Noice Cancelling, which previously debuted on ASUS's high-end ROG Theta 7.1 sound card. This particular feature uses AI to analyse and remove background noise while talking over voice comms, although it is only found on ROG and TUF series motherboards. AiMic works with pretty much any audio port on your motherboard, so a 3.5mm jack, USB-A or USB-C headset will work just fine.

The B550 motherboards you can expect to see from ASUS include:

  • ROG Strix B550-E Gaming
  • ROG Strix B550-F Gaming
  • ROG Strix B550-I Gaming
  • ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus
  • ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-Plus (Wi-Fi)
  • ASUS Prime B550-Plus
  • ASUS Prime B550M-A (Wi-Fi)
  • ASUS Prime B550M-K

We don't have pricing just yet, but expect these to be hitting the market very soon. You can learn more about the ASUS B550 motherboard range, HERE.

KitGuru Says: If anyone was waiting for cheaper B550 options before upgrading to the latest generation of Ryzen CPUs, then now is a great time to start shopping around. What do you all think of Asus's B550 lineup?
