Call of Duty 2020 footage leaks

Though Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continues to dominate the charts, there is always another Call of Duty around the corner. Footage of the upcoming first-person shooter has now leaked, showcasing snippets of gameplay, yet revealing a lot about what fans can expect from Treyarch’s 2020 offering.

The footage, which is continuously being uploaded only to be deleted shortly thereafter, is short and low quality, and yet has seemingly confirmed a number of details. Firstly, the pre-alpha footage confirms that the game will run on the franchise’s newly developed engine which was first used for 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. That being said, the gameplay itself appears to be more arcadey, which makes sense considering the fact that Treyarch is rumoured to be developing this year’s title.

Furthermore, the map itself is much more vibrant and colourful than that which can be found in Modern Warfare – another hint at Treyarch’s involvement in the title.

According to ‘TheXclusiveAce’, the map features M1 Abrams tanks in the environment, which came to service in 1980, lending credence to the notion that this year’s entry will be set during the Cold War. Other details which confirm this fact is the model of the gun being used, which is reported to be a Swedish AK5 assault rifle which entered service in 1986.

Of course, as unlikely as it is, this footage could be fake and so it's worth taking the information gained by the leak with a pinch of salt. Still, whether this footage is indeed real or not, we shouldn't have too long to wait to find out. Typically, the new Call of Duty has its reveal some time in May or June.

Of course, with the current global protests, many events have been postponed. Call of Duty 2020’s reveal could therefore have also been postponed internally, but either way, hopefully fans won’t have too long to wait to find out what’s in store for them with the next Call of Duty.
