Square Enix remains tight lipped on Final Fantasy VII Remake for other platforms

We are nearly two months removed from Final Fantasy VII Remake's launch on PS4 and while we know that the game is only a timed exclusive, Square Enix is remaining tight-lipped on a possible release on other platforms for now.

Final Fantasy VII Remake sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide on its launch weekend. Naturally, Square Enix is “pleased” with sales of the game so far, but even while speaking with investors, higher-ups at the publisher can't confirm additional platforms “for now”.

At the moment, Final Fantasy VII Remake is exclusive to the PS4 until April 2021. However, dataminers have uncovered code that suggests a PC version of the game exists in some form. Presumably, the game will also be updated for the launch of the PlayStation 5.

This isn't uncommon for Square Enix, as the publisher couldn't confirm Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 until quite some time after its initial release on Xbox One. With that in mind, we could be waiting until early 2021 for ‘official' word on Final Fantasy VII Remake coming to PC, Xbox or other systems.

KitGuru Says: Final Fantasy VII Remake is too big to restrain to one platform, so an eventual PC and Xbox release feels inevitable. Unfortunately, it will also require quite a bit of patience, as Sony's exclusivity period is fairly lengthy.
